Easy Bread Balls

Similar to cutlets, bread balls are a deep fried snack and made the same way too. One of the main difference is that the meat is wrapped in a wet bread slice which is then sealed into the shape of a ball. Fried bread gives an excellent taste and so this snack brings out that crispy crunchiness altogether. Thanks to my friend Bindu's mom for her excellent idea. My family loved it and I'm sure you'll enjoy this too.

Crispy and crunchy bread stuffed with meat and spices makes a great appetizer/snack. It's a simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • Bread Slices - 12

  • Oil -2 tbsp.

  • Onion - 1 Large, chopped

  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp

  • Garam masala - 1 tsp

  • Chilli powder -1 tsp

  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Cooked chicken or beef cut into small pieces or minced - 1 cup

  • Coriander leaves - few(optional)

  • Salt - About 1 tsp

  • Egg - 1, well beaten

  • Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup

  • Oil - for deep frying

  • Water - 1/2 filled in a bowl

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan and add onions. Saute until translucent/light brown.

  2. Add ginger garlic paste and stir. Reduce heat and add chilli powder, pepper powder, garam masala and mix.

  3. Now add the previously cooked meat, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well and turn off the stove.

  4. Cut and remove the hard edges of the piece of bread and dip it partially in water. Remove it immediately and press it between the hands until all the water is removed.

  5. Be careful not to break the piece of bread. Now place a table spoon full of the above meat mixture in the center of the soft bread piece and roll it into a ball. You can make as many balls until the meat mixture is finished.

  6. Roll the bread ball in the beaten egg and then in the bread crumbs and deep fry until it is brown.

  7. Turn once so both sides are well fried. Place onto paper/kitchen towels to remove any excess oil.

  8. Serve with your favourite sauce or with ketchup.

Notes

If the bread doesn't stick or seal properly, try microwaving the slice for 3-5 seconds and then seal it.
